Transform Hackathon

For the future of energy

To accelerate the energy transition, the Transform.Hackathon event was organized. Els and her team were looking for a suitable communication channel to communicate everything around this event. Els tells you more about this project.

Challenge

The challenge of Transform.Hackathon

Due to the transition from fossil to sustainable energy, our energy system is changing drastically. To accelerate the energy transition, the National Program RES in collaboration with Unify Energy organized the Transform.Hackathon event. Els and her team were looking for a suitable communication channel to communicate and explain everything around this event.

You really stood out compared to other parties! Not only on price, but also in approach there was really a difference.
Els - Transform.Hackathon

Els: "The goal was to bring together people from diverse backgrounds for a one-time event. We were looking for the right mix of thinkers, hackers, builders, and storytellers who wanted to participate. We needed a website with its own identity that would serve as a business card for the hackathon."

What weighed heavily in Els's decision was the phone contact. "That was immediately very pleasant, good questions were asked that showed you knew exactly what was going on."

Solutions

Our plans

The assignment consisted of building a website with a graphic design that matches the already developed brand identity of Transform.Hackathon. The website needed to have a registration form, be able to display and process visual content well, and serve as a beautiful business card for the hackathon.

The platform thus had a clear communicative function: to radiate, show, and tell what Transform.Hackathon is and entice people to participate. The graphic design for the website was therefore developed in close consultation with the creative team. Speed was important here, because the date for the hackathon was already set.

Els: "The contact during the project was pleasant, which is very important when you're working intensively together for a period. We also had a session once with the developers present. I'm not a techie, so I often don't know what's involved, and this way you know a bit more about what's going on. They could also hear from me why we do what we do, and what we wanted to achieve with it. I noticed that worked well."

During the project, we thus frequently communicated with Els and her colleagues. Due to the tight deadline, short lines were important, and it was important to be clear about what was expected and possible. Together with Els and her team, we critically looked at parts that jeopardized the deadline and incorporated elements into the website that strengthen the goal.

"The website fit the event well, you thought along well and sensed well what we had in mind. There was a lot of room in the design for the images and imagination," according to Els.

The website was built from the ground up in a few weeks, and was really what we had in mind.

Timeline

The milestone moments and meetups leading up to the event are tracked through a timeline. This timeline is not static but automatically jumps to the nearest milestone based on date.

Bilingual pages on the Transform.Hackathon website

Selective bilingual pages

We built a custom Multi-Language tool. This allows you to determine which pages are available in English in addition to Dutch, without having to maintain a complete Multi-Language website. During development, we took into account usability (for both the user and the visitor) and Technical SEO for search engines.

Visual design elements of the Transform.Hackathon website

Emphasis on visual elements

Transform.Hackathon had a clear brand identity in mind that the website needed to match. Two different target groups, the partners and the participants, both had to be able to find themselves in the visual language. In the graphic design, we took into account an emphasis on visual elements.

review

Transform.Hackathon about the collaboration

"The collaboration went really excellently! Patrick responded quickly and checked if everything was clear and exactly as we had in mind. That speed was also very necessary for this project, so that was very pleasant. You thought along well and also said when something wasn't possible, which was very nice."

The project and the website fully met our expectations. It's also nice that the English pages were added, something we fortunately thought of in advance. Just before the event, one of these pages dropped out, but within five minutes I was already called back that it would be taken care of and it was quickly resolved.

Els is also very pleased with the final result. Els: "You really went to the extreme for us to get everything done within the deadline. I appreciate that enormously! We continuously receive compliments about the website, so yes, you really delivered great work!"
