UX Design: from Research to Prototypes

A new website is about so much more than just a new look. Everything must be perfectly aligned to optimally serve your visitors. That's why every project with us starts with thorough research, and we use wireframes and prototypes before we start working on a final design.

Research

Thorough research

Before we concretely start working on your website, we first go through a number of strategic steps together with you. For example, we analyze your target audiences, customer segments, and main competitors. We also prepare a SWOT analysis, make a brand analysis, and assess the value your brand adds. Additionally, we look at the mission, vision, and core values of your company. This gives us a good picture of who you are and what you want to project in the market.

We also study how your competitors do this. By conducting a best-in-class analysis, we gain insight into how your competitors differentiate themselves in the market and, more importantly, how you can too.

We then set up the sitemap, a handy overview of all pages on your website and their interconnections. Based on all this information, we get to work on the design. To give you a good picture of the progress during the development of your new website, we use wireframes and prototypes.

Wireframes

Wireframe: the blueprint

A wireframe is the blueprint of your website. In it, you see which functional components will be on your website. There's no visual design yet, so we won't be distracted by that. A wireframe focuses purely on the functionality of your website.

With wireframing, we can not only quickly and easily discuss this with you but also with your customers. For example, we can test whether the navigation we have in mind also works well in practice. The advantage of wireframing is that it's a cost-effective way to test a website before you invest a lot of money in its visual elaboration.

In principle, we can even sketch a wireframe for you on the back of a beer coaster. Usually, we make something nicer, but soon after our first meeting, we can show you something practical.

Prototypes

Prototypes: adjust and elaborate

Once the wireframe is solid, it's time for a prototype. This is an interactive demo of your website, where you can navigate from page to page. A prototype is often already further designed, giving you an increasingly better picture of what your website will ultimately look like and how it will function.

The advantage of these two steps is that you can still easily make changes before we finalize a design and spend time and budget on it. Moreover, a prototype is ideal for gathering more feedback, and it ensures that developers know exactly how the website should behave without having to work out extensive specifications.

Design

Consistent and user-friendly

Without a good Design System, it's nowadays very difficult to create a consistent brand experience, especially for large companies where digital developments follow each other rapidly. A design system provides a set of reusable components, guidelines, and principles that guarantee the coherence and consistency of your brand across different places. By maintaining a consistent design system, you create a seamless user experience and strengthen your brand recognition.

Curious?

As you can see, a lot is involved in a UX project, but with each step, you get to know your target audiences and company better. This way, you'll perfectly align with your customers' needs. Curious about the possibilities? Feel free to contact us.
